Covid-19 Update
Further to the recent announcements by the Scottish Government, our diary is now open. We will constantly review the Covid situation and close/open our diary as necessary.
Your health and safety while staying at John o’ Groats Guest House has always been our priority, even more so since Coronavirus has become a part of our daily lives.
Checking-In:
We will personally check you in – and we look forward to meeting you.
We will stay 1m apart and although we will be delighted to welcome you here, please forgive us that we won’t shake your hand or offer to help you with your luggage. We will be wearing a mask and guests must also wear a mask or face covering when arriving at the B&B and in all shared areas of the property. There is hand sanitiser in the entrance hallway and we ask all our guests to use this when entering and leaving. We can supply facemasks for a small charge, if you do not have your own.
Your room keys will have been disinfected and will be in your room door.
It’s a legal requirement that we collect contact information for every guest. This will be held securely and destroyed 21 days after your stay.
You can help us by letting us have this information in advance of your arrival.
We also have a QR Code that you can scan on arrival and cancel as you leave us.
Payment:
Our card payment machine will be cleaned with a disinfectant wipe before and after every use and hand sanitiser is available next to the card machine.
We encourage the use of contactless payments or bank transfer. Cash accepted.
Shared areas in our guest house will be regularly disinfected; such as door handles, light switches and any other touch points.
Breakfast:
We will continue to serve your breakfast in the breakfast room.
Please use the hand sanitiser and wear a mask or face covering, when entering and leaving the breakfast room. We will wear a mask and gloves when serving you.
We have reduced the number of tables to three to enable us to position them further apart.
Maximum 10 people from no more than three groups.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide self-service food items at breakfast. These will still be available to order and served to you at your table.
Tables and chairs will be cleaned and fully disinfected at the end of the breakfast service.
All consumables on the tables will be removed and discarded after meals, even if unused.
If you don’t wish to eat breakfast in the breakfast room, we can offer you a packed breakfast to take away with you. This should be pre-ordered.
The Snug:
There is a guest fridge in The Snug, with a selection of cold drinks to purchase and fresh milk for guests who would prefer this to milk portions.
Please use the hand sanitiser available before opening the guest fridge.
Cleaning Procedures for Guest Bedrooms and Ensuites:
While cleaning guest rooms and ensuites we will wear a facemask. A disposable apron and gloves will also be worn and changed between each area. Hands will be washed and sanitised between each room or area being cleaned.
Guest bedrooms will be cleaned as per our existing 28-point cleaning regime.
Hard surfaces will then be disinfected with cleaning products that are BS EN 1276 or BS EN 14476 standard.
-
All items in the room, such as the TV remote, tissue holder, hairdryer and all touch points will be cleaned with disinfectant.
-
All blinds and upholstery will be sprayed with an anti-bacterial soft surface spray. There will be no cushions or bed runners in any bedroom.
-
All unused consumables in the room, such as tea & coffee sachets, toiletries etc. will be removed and discarded. Please feel free to take them with you, but leave the TV.
-
As per our normal cleaning procedures, all towels in bathrooms will be removed and laundered whether or not they have been used.
-
Bed linen will be washed at a high temperature or at a lower temperature with a disinfecting additive when this is not possible.
For guests staying more than one night, we will provide a quick servicing of the bedrooms; replacing towels, emptying waste bins and replenishing the tea tray.
Our aim is to revert back to full room servicing as soon as Government guidance allows.
We have conducted a Covid-19 risk assessment and have been certified as ‘GOOD TO GO’
